Tribes at Wicked Faire?

So would the Tribes like to come to Wicked Faire?

If so...what would you, as Tribes, like to be able to do there?

Maybe, I think the rooms (at least the mad scientists & hedonists) were awesome. However, based on some of the comments I've heard - I think they could use a bit more organization from the tribal members. At least the Hedonist room did - I was supposed to be there and spent most of my time wandering around. Maybe set schedules for the tribal members (1 or 2 hour increments) so that someone is there for the activities planned (go ahead and beat me, I don't mind).

I stopped by the Evil Overlords room and was disappointed - it didn't look like any evil at all...unless that was intended? The Talesenders room, they had decorating difficulties...maybe needed more folks involved? I'm not sure.

Anyhow, better planning/supervision and it may have been better...Waiting to hear what other folks thought.

If we do rooms again, we need to have them closer to the rest of the event. Given the hotel maybe we could spilt up some of the smaller conference rooms on the main level and do the tribe rooms there.

The room with the auction stuff in it would be large enough for two groups, assuming that there are two groups that would be willing to coordinate. I am not sure how the "floating walls" are set in these rooms, so we may actually be able to create two rooms from one.

Bear in mind that the top floor -has- to be important - it -has- to be something that will draw people in and of itself - if not, a lot of people will miss out on 1/3rd of what we can offer in our space.

Well OK. I guess we need to mix things up enough so that more people will want to spend time upstairs. More intimate acts, possibly having the hypnotist do a small show on of the upstairs rooms, unamplified music, Demonstrations and/or classes. Lady A. perhapts.

How about making some of the Adults only areas upstairs. It would be easier to check id's.

This is one of the things we were considering, actually. The other option would be having the Adults only room in a particular space downstairs, because there are some things in particular that won't fit upstairs because of space requirements.

I wouldn't *mind*, per se... since I'll be vending as a face & body painter at faire, and a roving one at that, I wouldn't necessarily mind roving into the hedonist room every once in a while to paint, but I really want to get out into the faire proper too, as well, and paint there.

Note to hedonists (and everyone) if we do rooms: Since I'm vending at this one, there can't be any other peeps painting, for free or otherwise, via airbrush or by hand. Thanks much. :D

There wouldn't be another painter in the same room as you, Larissa, but there definitely might be someone else painting elsewhere in the event. Especially because of the chocolate thing, I have a feeling that LOTS of people will want to be painted, and we don't want you overwhelmed. We typically have more than one anyway, to cover the demand for henna, face and body, airbrush, and such.

Actually, I *am* going to be the only face/body painter at faire. And I'm investing funds in body chocolate to add to the mix.

Note: if we do tribal rooms again, they totally do need more organization. Perhaps we could cover admission and food for volunteers and also Jeff Mach money for them, because there does need to be someone in the room at all time, and people should be compensated for the planning stage. Zach, for instance, deserves way much. It's not really fair that the tribal organizers spend so much time before and during the event, and work pretty much by themselves. I think we should coordinate volunteer teams beforehand. The organization before the event and the manning of the rooms during the event would be, I think, the biggest hurdle.

I really really really don't want to do tribal stuff for WWF, personally. Not the same way. I think it would be cool to do it in terms of dress or some events (like evil overlords try and take over everything) or like some sort of kissing message service from the Hedonists or something... but it was SO MUCH and we had so many events to begin with... It really was too much, I think, and people had no idea what was going on and felt overwhelmed. I don't think that was our fault, but I think it was too much going on at one time.

The tribes were cool and we should bring them back, but not like before. I don't think we should have tribal rooms, basically.

I do like how we had the comics and authors upstairs. We could also have rooms upstairs specifically for jewelry. Another thought in reference to the adult stuff, Ogre's stuff can be downstairs, since he really doesn't mind, but we could have a room upstairs for sex toys and whatnot. (The auction, all the people selling dildos, we could stick one of the chocolate painter people up there...)
That takes care of like three rooms. We could use a room for some of the chocolate wares too. We should also have a room designated for people to chill in (like the Hedonist room) but we shouldn't make it tribal. Demonstrations, classes, these are all great ideas of ways to use space. Jeff- remember how I mentioned that I felt like the vendors were WAY crowded downstairs? *solution!*

The people who liked the rooms and enjoyed them want it back. But like, I think we could do something better, and we really don't have the manpower to do something like last time. I agree that the rooms needed more organization, so, who wants to organize them? Plus, I think we should work on uniting everyone at the event, instead of splitting them up...

If I get overruled (which I probably will ^_^) then we need to make sure EVERYONE knows whats going on with the tribes, and that EVERYONE does something to add to it. Either everyone should be a tribal member, or no one should, because I kind of felt like there were only a handful of people per tribe that actually did anything, and lots of people joined the tribes here on the site but didn't contribute... It's not like the staff runs the tribes, really, the attendees do.

I agree with what you're saying -- that the tribes shouldn't have their own individual rooms at Faire. If people want to bring back the flavor of the tribes, then that would work. But IMO, we really don't have the space this time to give each tribe a room again, and that's not even considering the manpower needed to organize it better.

The tricky thing about what to do with upstairs... We want to have enough going on up there so that it's exciting and people are drawn up there. But the rooms are smaller / more separate, so the ways in which we can use them are different.

While I agree with you that the authors up there was nice in that it was all in one place... Most of the authors didn't like it so much, because even though we tried to get people up there, they didn't get the same traffic as downstairs.

I think we could have the secondary stage up there. This would draw more people up there, because there would be constant/scheduled entertainment. And it would be in a space separate from vendors this time, which a lot of them have requested.

And then I think we could make the Hanover Ballroom (the room that had the auction in it last time) the 18+ room. It has it's own single entrance so it's easy to secure, and it's big enough for adult vendors (and tall enough for Ogre's stuff). Possibly also the gallery, which is the room next door. Although the gallery would be good for artists/authors/cartoonists if we do move them from the 3rd floor.

If we do make the 3rd floor the 18+ space, we'll have to be more specific about who is placed in the hotel rooms on that floor. Though this is still an option.
