Decorations and Vendors! also, WHO HAS A BOOM BOX?

We should invite certain vendors into our room, such as those carting weapons, whips, handcuffs, leather gear, and the like. People! Help me out! Find vendors of evil-related items and bug them to vend in our room!

Also, re:decorations. I was wondering what happened to those two fake stone towers/castle wall things that Dan the Mime posed near during the February Wicked Faire? I'd really like to have them or something like them at the entrance to our room. Alternately, if people can each bring a piece of cardboard and cut it in the shape of the top of a fortress turret:

We could tape them to rim the edges of tables, backs of chairs, put em near walls, things like that. I suppose also there could be paper cutouts of similar things. If anyone is an artist or knows artists or can go bug one of the vendors/artists on this site, maybe someone could draw us a colorful dragon to guard our fortress.

I'd love to have zombies tromping about snarling at people, and jesters, or jugglers, and people bringing in evil music to play.. Does anyone have a boom box?

Also, food.. I know the hotel is sposed to be the sole caterer of things..is there any way we can have some of th food areas set up in our room? So long as we're overlords and not actually overthrown yet, we should be able to live it up! Really, I think we might have some friendly relations with the Hedonists toward that end.

Someone mentioned Laser tag at one point...what about watergun fighting in part of the room? Perhaps in a fake Moat area.

I know I write a lot and they put me up as head of the Tribe, but I'm really ill-equipped time-wise to take care of the Evil Overlord planning and execution on my own. I'm performing, and currently starting a new job while dealing with all sorts of living complications, so I'm absolutely ready to hand over the shiny title if someone else is willing to do the work. Evil Overlords who can't work/work with people at least temporarily...probably don't get to be overlords in the first place.

Considering many vendors sell some really expensive stuff, I don't think water guns would be a very good idea. I've seen some fairly cheap lazer tag sets on eBay. I wonder if we bought a few sets if they'd work together. Do lazer tag guns work from one set to another?

If they're the same brand they work from one set to another definitely. If there different brands, some work with each other and some don't.

Vendors

You folks could have vendors in your room, sure. The only thing is that vendors generally take-up a good bit of space, so there may not be much room if you put in more than one or two.

Mike, the fellow with the steam-punk guns might be a good choice, though he may be vending in the Mad Scientists room instead.

Decorations

If the towers/castle walls are still intact and re-usable, then they're in our storage space and we can bring them for you to use. However, I make no gauruntees that they actually are in such condition currently. heh.

The cardboard box idea is a really great idea. If people don't have artistic ability but do have extra boxes laying around, they could bring the boxes to the event, and we could set you folks up with some scissors, perhaps?

Zombies

Well, the Zombie Movie Room is just down the hall. I say recruit. Or kidnap. Or something.

Food

Unfortunately, no, we really CANT bring in food, except that which is bought from the hotel.

Waterguns

Totally an awesome idea. (espicially since your room currently doesn't have any vendors, so you don't have to worry about their merch as Mark brought-up). And most waterguns are totally cool by our weapons policy. Because they're usually neon colored and quite obviously fake / far from functional weapons.

Another concern of water guns, people may not want their leather or other clothing getting wet. I know of people that are coming that are wearing Victorian type clothing... consider the liabilities. I'm not trying to poo poo ideas, but while stuff sounds like fun, the realities need to be considered too.

The Mad Scientists were looking to get some plexi-glass sheets for one of their events. I'm not sure if they will actually be able to or nay, but if they are they'll only be using it for one scheduled event and not all day and you may be able to 'borrow' it from them to use as a barrier when they're done. And if so, that may work even better than cardboard, since cardboard gets kind of mushy when wet.

FYI, the room will be available for setup begining Friday afternoon/evening, if anyone is planning on arriving then.

And, we'll help where/how we can. But we will generally be running around trying to get the other event areas settled first (stages, vendor areas, etc). So I can't promise how much we'll actually be able to help setup the tribe rooms.
